Now that you have accepted your transfer admissions to UC Berkeley, we want to welcome you and help kick start your
career planning journey. While you get acclimated to campus and your academics, be sure to visit our office to prepare
and explore your career possibilities.
First Semester – Junior Year
• Get to know the Berkeley Career Engagement (BCE) services by attending a “Cal to Career” session and
connecting with the BCE team
• If you haven’t yet, set up your Handshake profile and personalize your career interests to get
recommendations on jobs, internships, companies and BCE events
• Explore the BCE website to get familiar with the resources we offer to help in your career journey
• Make an appointment in Handshake to meet with a Career Educator to discuss career planning and
how to maximize your time at UC Berkeley
• Attend the Graduate and Law School Fair if you are interested in further education
• Attend a career & internship fair or employer event to learn about an organization, job & internship
opportunities and network
• Create a LinkedIn profile and stop by BCE's Iris Photobooth to take a professional photo to upload your
profile image
Second Semester – Junior Year

Discuss post-graduate options with advisors and professors
Consider doing an internship to build your skills and explore career fields
Develop strong relationships with faculty - especially if you are considering graduate school
Build teamwork and leadership skills in your extracurricular activities
Develop analytical and problem solving skills to become more competitive for many jobs
Third Semester – Senior Year

Meet with a Career Educator in the beginning of Senior year to solidify your career plan
Make some decisions about your future goals - it is okay to have more than one direction
Develop your professionalism and work ethic within your various commitments
Assess your training, skills and experiences & identify further development needed to be competitive
for the opportunities that interest you
• Meet employers at Information Sessions, On-Campus Recruiting, and Career Fairs
• Apply for jobs and utilize job search tools including Handshake, LinkedIn and Indeed
• Complete a Forage simulation found on our website
Fourth Semester – Senior Year
